In thinking about taking on the project I felt it would be exposing me more than I am used to. So just as an onion has many layers, so do each one of us (according to Shrek). It also ties in to photography as a tool I use in the editing process. By tackling this project I hope to grow personally as well as professionally during this next year. I will struggle with posting them each day, but will take the pictures and post them as soon as time allows. Enjoy the journey with me.

225 - Eh....What's Up Doc?

Our one and probably only carrot for the year. It sure was pretty, but didn't taste as good as it looked. May cancel my carrot raising for next year.

223 - Contemplating

This is carried over from my trip over the weekend because I wanted to include it.
I had gone to take some pictures of the canyon and walked back to put my camera away. My son was walking up to me and he wanted to go look where I had been. We walked back over near the canyon edge and sat and talked. I rarely take time to soak up life, to enjoy each millisecond. But for this brief moment, listening to my son's stories of the day and the goings on of his mind.....I relished it. The gentle moment shared between mother and son was imprinted on my brain. His sweet smile, his eager gaze at the moon, and his multitude of questions of the world was priceless. I had left my camera at the car, but wanted to capture this moment for my own reviewing, so I took a quick shot by the car. It doesn't do my feelings at the time justice, but I will look at this and know that my love for this sweet boy is as deep as the canyon we looked over.

We got a good one without your flailing, babe. Wished I could have joined you all. But due to current circumstances I was reduced to watching with envy.

218 - Pink Clouds

This is dedicated to my sister, Nannette.

Pink Clouds, pink clouds everywhere all ablaze
Over mountains and trees as I gaze
I wish you could go with me to see
The beautiful clouds sail over the sea
Every night about 5:30
I go out and come in all dirty

There are two more lines, but I can't remember what they are. The reason I dedicate this to my sister is that whenever I would see pink clouds I would recite this poem. Ever since 4th grade when I made it she would hear it and it would drive her nuts. So this goes out to you Nett. I guess you should feel good that I think of torturing you every time I see a beautiful pink sunset, and know a content smile creeps across my face. Love you!!!

. I should have done a picture of us, but was busy having fun at the cousin retreat. Thanks Aunt Cathy and Uncle Tom!

208 - Smellography

Are there ever moments where you wish you could capture the smell and feel of the moment. This was one such night. The cool breeze blowing across my face with the smell of rain preceeding the storm to follow. I love to close my eyes and let my other senses take hold and imprint the moment on my brain and hope it can be retrieved in the future. This was my attempt to capture the moment in sight, smell, and touch. I am afraid I may be the only one to feel it as I am the one who was there. But it helps to make the moment easier to access for me with a photo.

205 - Weekend Fun

We love our yearly trip to Bear Lake. We spent the day on the beach soaking up the sun (fully slathered well except for Jess), laying in the sand, and swimming in the water. It is always one of my favorite trips of the year. Usually includes beach time, awesome thunder and lightning storm, and exploring. This year we found some new to us camp spots and an ice cave that the kids loved.
Last year we drove through Dingle and saw this playground that had all the old school stuff that I used to play on as a kid. We had to stop this year and let the kids see what a real playground was like. The swings were so high, the slide was so tall, and the the spinining thing went really fast and it was all made out of metal that burned when you touched it. It would, by todays standards be considered a danger zone. But oh so fun. Good times!

200 - Completed

I tackled this dresser a while ago, but was lacking the knobs to officially call it complete. I finally got them and viola. I was so unsure what to do with it. I wanted to do something really neat and different, but wanted it to fit with the rest of my decor. I ended up keeping it very similar to what it was but warmed it up a little to fit the warmth in my house. I thought about doing black and stain, but it didn't fit my house. I have a night stand I will tackle next and probably to it to match the dresser. I love refinishing furniture. I stress over what colors to choose, but always love enjoying the end result of my labors.
Total cost of project was probably around $140. I got the dresser for $50, knobs $60, supplies $30. A little more than I wanted because so many knobs, but not bad for a nice custom dresser.

199 - Chevy vs Ford

This post was inspired by another fellow 365er, Suzanne. I thought about her previous post on a Ford when I happened upon a car show and thought I would take a similar shot of a Chevy to take a survey in my post.

My husband was very anti-Ford when we met and he probably thought he would never marry a girl who owned a Ford. Well he did and a month after we were married we traded it in for a Chevy (it had problems that a lot of money wasn't fixing). We have had that Chevy going on 11 years now and 160,000 plus miles on it. It has been a good car.

So who would you put your money on? A Chevy or a Ford?

197 - Second Annual Ek Family Talent Night

had a family reunion and it entails a fun-filled night of talent. Bradyn was showcasing his piano skills with a rendition of Star Wars complete with costume and Obi Wan (I was busy manning the video so the photo of Bradyn was curtosy of Uncle Steve, Thanks). He was supposed to fight Obi Wan after, but ended up getting embarassed.
Leena was a rocker for a night and sung a Taylor Swift song.
Sophie sung the Skunk song with a lot of help from her daddy (photo curtosy of Jillian Bath, my SIL and my awesome assistant).
We had a lot of fun and look forward to everyones talents next year.

194 - Bounty

Loving the bounty recieved from my garden. Zucchini is always plentiful and I am trying to find different recipes to make with it. I came across this recipe and my husband and I loved it, but kids hated it because of the zucchini. It has chicken, carrots, zucchini, some broth, and garlic. Anyone have any other great recipes for zucchini? I am up for suggestions.

190 - Stump Fairy

This is an update from this previous post. There is such a thing as a stump fairy. It just comes in the form of a man with a big machine asking for money. I just didn't expect to have to pay a fairy. Excited to have the stumps gone though.

189 - Evidence of Summer

I am referring to her freckles on her face.
My Gramps used to tell me they were angel kisses and he had a secret on how to get rid of them. He said I had to get a babies wet diaper and wipe in on my face. I used to be so disgusted when he told me that. He also always said I was full of phony bologna too. Just a little remember when of my Gramps.

187 - Bargain-oholic

I love a deal!! With school approaching, I was stressing about buying jeans and uniforms for my kids and thanks to Sam for letting me in on the deal, my stress is melting away.
Got four pants for the price of one....$8.00. Can you say cha-ching? Yes, they are all the same, but a little dye and tea stain can fix that in a jiffy.
